Hunting down the perfect gift for your hunter or angler just got easier! We spoke with Linda Voight, co-owner of Rockport’s Tackle Town, about holiday season gift-giving options for the outdoor sports person in your life.

The Voight Family (Linda, her husband Alton, and their two kids, Leslie, and Alan) have owned Tackle Town since 2002, after previously owning a tackle shop in San Antonio since 1982. The Voights are the go-to resource for all things outdoor-related. If there is something you need or have a question about, they will know the answer or find out for you. As Linda says, “The advantage we have over a big box store is that we can give personal attention to our customers. Our knowledge and helping hands can help to improve their outdoor experience.”

Linda gave us gift ideas for anglers at every price point along with stocking stuffer options to assist you in choosing the best selection of holiday presents! Less expensive items for stocking could include caps, tumblers, lures, tackle boxes, fillet knives, and tee shirts for under $25.

In the mid-price range from $20-$200, Linda suggests clothing. Tackle Town carries an extensive collection of not just fishing clothing, but lifestyle items such as woven print shirts, beachwear, warm layering pieces, shorts, jackets, flip-flops, shoes, and much more. No one is left out at Tackle Town, as sizes range from infants to 5XL in clothing, and from infants to size 17 in the shoe/flip-flop area. Yes, some people have feet that big!

A nice rod and/or reel could also be purchased to delight your angler.

For more expensive gifts, Tackle Town features a superior level of rods, reels, and combinations of these. You will also find one of the largest selections of sunglasses and wading gear.

For the duck hunters, there are duck calls, carrying straps, gloves, lanyards, and camo accessories that make excellent stocking stuffers and run under $20.

In the middle price range, Linda recommends waders, heavier jackets, camo shirts, layering pieces, gun cases, and various hunting bags. They also have 12 to 15 species of duck decoys that begin at $50 a box.

When the sky is the limit, your hunter might appreciate a brand new shotgun. Prices start at $600. Tackle Town also carries a wide selection of high-end guns, including pistols, rifles, and associated ammunition.

If your outdoor person is into kayaking, Linda recommends kayak accessories like stake-out poles, plugs, paddles, track systems with various options, rod holders, and even life jackets, which range from $11.99 to $150.

Tackle Town’s services include repairing your rods/reels and they can assist in putting line on your reel and recommending set-ups for your way of fishing. You can also obtain your fishing and hunting licenses there and Tackle Town will ensure you are compliant whether you are in or out-of-state.

As a one-stop-shop, Tackle Town also carries a huge selection of nature-related housewares like clocks, lazy Susans, thermometers, ‘fishy’ door mats, tumblers, and decorative signs. Toadfish kitchenware and Danco knife sets make awesome gifts as well. The latest addition to the store is the entire line of Duke Cannon men’s grooming supplies; they smell great and make great stocking stuffers!

Unique to Tackle Town are their own private label food items like various ‘heats’ of salsas, tomatillos, jellies, pickles, and quail eggs. Linda says, “these are great for the person who has everything.”
If you just can’t decide, why not go with a Tackle Town gift certificate? And if they can’t decide what to spend it on, Linda and her family/staff are there to help and advise them.

Years of experience, knowledge, and excellent customer service are hallmarks of Tackle Town. The Voight family/staff love to get to know their customer base and would be thrilled to assist you in choosing that perfect something for the people in your life. So don’t despair over what to get your duck hunter, don’t fret over what to get your fisher person and don’t kill yourself over kayaking accessories! Head on over to Tackle Town and find gifts for everyone on your list… and maybe a little something for yourself while you are at it. Happy Gift Hunting!
